David Ashcraft
Junior Vice Commander - Army

David Ashcraft, a Life Member of Benjamin Franklin VFW Post 605 in Paris, France, was elected and installed on 1 April 2023 as the Post Junior Vice Commander.

Currently an active-duty Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army, Comrade Ashcraft is currently serving as the US Army Training and Doctrine Command Liaison Officer to the French Army. 

He has served in Military Intelligence and Foreign Area Officer positions throughout his career to include deployments to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Israel.

Fluent in French and Russian, he also previously served as a language instructor at the United States Military Academy and is a lifelong advocate on the importance of Language Regional Expertise and Culture for the armed Forces. 

Comrade Ashcraft is a graduate of both Ohio State and Yale Universities, and is a master’s degree candidate in French and Russian at Middlebury College.

He resides in Paris with his sixteen-year-old energetic bilingual saxophone playing son, Xander, a rising junior at the American School of Paris.
